Cannot access Outlook 2013 64-bit files

I am trying to troubleshoot an Outlook 2013 problem that prevents sending of any real e-mails via SMTP, even though test e-mails can be sent successfully from account setup. I'm running 64-bit Outlook on Windows 8 64-bit.

I have downloaded MFCMAPI, but as soon as I run it I get this message: "Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client."

Is this because the version of MFCMAPI downloaded from here is 32-bit? Can I download a 64-bit version?

Correct - you need the 64 bit version. Check the Downloads tab.

Thank you. I found it now, with your help.

I too am trying to resolve an Outlook 2013 problem and am also running 64-bit Outlook on Windows 8 64-bit. I downloaded the 64 bit version of MFCMAPI from February of this year but it's not working. I get the error message "Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request." Outlook is set as the default.

Are you certain Outlook is 64 bit? Did you try the 32 bit MFCMAPI?

My bad! The PC is 64 bit but Outlook is 32. Thanks.
