"Network Problems" on Server 2008 w/2007 MAPI/CDO

I'm on a Server 2008 running Exchange 2007 and the latest (8/28/2008) standalone MAPI/CDO subsystem.

Whenever I try to use MFCMAPI, I get the dialog "Network problems are preventing connection to the Microsoft Exchange Server computer.  Contact your system administrator if this condition persists.".  Then I get "The action could not be completed.".  Finally, it pops a dialog to correct the server and username.  I'm on the server, logged in as administrator, but I can't even check my own name.  When I try I get "The name could not be resolved.  Network problems...[etc]."

I've only used MAPI on one other 2008 box a while back, but I think it worked fine.  My recollection is a bit dim, though.

Has anyone encountered this in that environment?  Google only pulls up old Exchange 2000 kb articles.

Thanks,

Ted
